PJSC “Salyvonky Sugar Plant” is a modern enterprise that holds a leading position among sugar producers in Ukraine. Built in 1873, the plant’s history began then. In 1881, a fire destroyed the plant, but Countess Branitskaya rebuilt it two years later, increasing the capacity to 2,032 tons of sugar per season.
The first major reconstruction occurred in 1914, allowing the plant to process 1,090 tons of sugar beets per day. By the 1940-1941 season, the plant reached a productivity of 1,361 tons of beets per day. However, during World War II, the plant was destroyed, and many of its workers served at the front, with 74 receiving Soviet honors and medals.
In 1995, the plant began cultivating sugar beets on 3,000 hectares, yielding 400 centners of beets per hectare. By the following year, the planting area expanded to 8,000 hectares, and by 1998, the plant sowed beets on 2,134 hectares with an expected yield of over 300 centners per hectare.
In 1996, the plant processed raw sugar for the first time, importing from Brazil, Cuba, and Taiwan. A total of 113,141 tons of raw sugar was processed, producing 108,967 tons of pure white granulated sugar.
From 2013 to 2024, the plant underwent extensive modernization and reconstruction:
- In 2013, the product department was updated with new vacuum and evaporative apparatuses and centrifuges from international manufacturers.
- In 2014, the defecosaturation station was modernized, boosting production capacity to 7,000 tons of beets per day.
- In 2015, the beet pulp pressing section was re-equipped with deep-press machines.
- In 2016, the juice filtration station was upgraded, followed by further filtration system upgrades in 2017, including the control filtration system.
- Between 2017-2018, the sugar drying complex was renewed, increasing daily beet processing capacity to 10,000 tons.
- In 2018, improvements were made to the cleaning track, beet washing department, and transportation systems. Two vertical clarifiers, two additional clarifiers for wash water, and four syrup filtration units were installed.
- From 2018-2019, a steam dryer for pulp and a granulation and storage complex for pulp were added.
- Between 2022-2023, the product department was reconstructed with new vacuum apparatuses, and in 2024, the III product vacuum apparatuses were replaced.
This continuous investment in modernization has made the Salyvonky Sugar Plant one of the most advanced in the industry.
